Rugby Rococo Players is an amateur orchestra with a long association with the town. It was founded in the 1950s and continues to delight its members and audiences with varied programmes played to a high standard

Rugby Rococo Players form Rugby's leading amateur orchestra, specialising as the name suggests in music for smaller forces. The orchestra was founded by the late George Dazeley in the late 1950s and subsequent regular conductors have included Michael Tillet, Martin Jackson, Peter Bullett, John Stafford, Nick Scott-Burt, Ray Hutchinson, Eddie Jones, Mark Smith, Richard Dunster-Sigtermans and Zoe Hogan. We currently have a pool of conductors who work with us for a term at a time.
Our concerts are held in local venues including St Andrew's Church, Rugby High School, St. Peter and John church and the Rugby Methodist Centre. A typical concert consists of an overture, a concerto with a local soloist and a symphony. Local soloists who have performed in recent times include Laura Robinson (viola), Rosemary Robinson (piano), Huw Gibson (cello), Andrea Brogaard (violin), Rob Colley (piano) and Tamsin Scammell (violin).

Enquiries are always welcome from local soloists, younger players looking to further their performing experience and conductors. 

The orchestra welcomes new players, especially in the string section. (No audition necessary but grade 7 or above recommended). Rehearsals are held on Monday nights (7:30 pm-9.30 pm) during the three school terms with a concert towards the end of each term.
